WhatsApp keeps bringing new features for the masses to make the app more interactive. And now, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform has reportedly been prepping up to add chat themes with animated wallpapers to the iOS version of the application.
This update will let users personalise the messaging experience by changing background themes and wallpapers and setting the bubble colour for every theme. The app is expected to introduce three different categories for chat themes. The feature is reportedly currently in development.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has been testing chat themes with animated wallpapers on iOS. Furthermore, it is said to be available in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.31.10.74 update, which is available on TestFlight.
Reports have it that WhatsApp will bring Featured, Doodle, and Minimal categories for chat themes. The Featured themes category is said to include animated wallpapers. Moreover, the animation could be minimal and could make the background dynamic without drawing attention away from the conversation. Furthermore, the update will let users separate chats with different themes.
On the other hand, the WhatsApp Doodle chat theme will consist of doodle patterns, and the Minimal theme will have a plain background and fewer distractions. The chat themes will most probably work the same way on both iOS and Android. Talking about the benefits of this feature, we must say that it will allow users to have more personalisation options, as users will be able to customise different chats with different WhatsApp live wallpapers.
Apart from that, the choice of having Featured, Doodle, or Minimal categories will let the user try different things and settle down for the one that suits their purpose. Apart from that, the users will get to match the wallpaper and message-bubble colours through a theme, which can make the overall chat interface look more in sync.
