Sam Altman’s OpenAI is seeing another senior executive exit. Denise Holland Dresser, the company’s Chief Revenue Officer, has announced that she will leave the AI company in the coming weeks to pursue other opportunities. Dresser shared the news in a LinkedIn post, where she also shared the note she sent to her team. She said the decision to leave OpenAI was difficult but expressed pride in what the company and her team had achieved during her time there.
“The opportunity to work hands-on with the most transformative technology in the world has been nothing short of incredible,” Dresser said in the note shared with her team.
She also thanked OpenAI employees for their hard work and said the team had continued to move at an extraordinary pace while remaining focused on delivering value to customers.
Dresser joined OpenAI at a time when the company was rapidly expanding its business and looking to turn its AI products into a major commercial business. As Chief Revenue Officer, she was responsible for the company’s revenue growth and customer relationships, making her departure an important leadership change for OpenAI.
In her message, Dresser said she has been working with Greg Brockman, the co-founder and President of OpenAI, to make sure there is a smooth transition and discuss the future needs of the business. She added that more details about the company’s plans will be shared shortly.
Dresser will not leave immediately. She said she will remain at OpenAI for some time and continue working with the team and customers during the transition.
While Dresser has not revealed where she will go next, she said she is “excited for what lies ahead” and will continue to cheer for the OpenAI team. Her exit is also another senior-level leadership change for OpenAI. The company has seen several high-profile departures recently.
Earlier this week, OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap announced that he is leaving the AI company to start a new venture. Lightcap, who joined the ChatGPT maker in 2018, said on social media platform X, that he is leaving OpenAI to ‘start something new.’ He said he had been thinking about what comes next and the challenges that could affect the success of the company’s mission.
“Over the last few months, I’ve been focused on the next horizon and what would stand in the way of mission success. I believe there are a few important new things the world will need to get right as we enter this next period,” Lightcap said in a post on X.
