The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday launched a new version of its TRAI MyCall mobile app, which will now allow users to rate their voice call experience and report issues such as call drops, poor audio quality and other network-related problems.
The regulator says the app will also help telecom operators improve network performance while giving consumers a direct way to share their feedback.
“Introducing the revamped MyCall App where every consumer’s call experience counts. Rate your recent calls, share your experience and contribute to real-world insights that can help improve call quality across India. Download the MyCall App now on Google Play,” the regulator posted on X.
For those unaware, the TRAI MyCall app allows users to share feedback on their voice call experience after every call. The feedback is shared with telecom companies without revealing the user’s identity.
TRAI says this will help operators find network problems and improve their services. The regulator will also use the feedback to better monitor the quality of telecom services based on users’ actual experience.
While telecom companies assess network performance through technical Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, TRAI said consumer feedback offers a better understanding of the actual Quality of Experience (QoE).
The new MyCall app combines both to provide a more detailed picture of network performance.
“By combining consumer feedback with network parameters, the platform will support Telecom Service Providers in identifying network gaps while enabling TRAI to strengthen data-driven regulatory oversight and enhance the overall Quality of Experience (QoE) for telecom users,” the regulator said in a statement.
The updated app comes with several new features. Users can rate voice calls using a simple one-to-five-star system and report problems including call drops, echo, audio delay, cross connections, voice breaks, one-way audio and long call connection times.
The app also offers an option to automatically ask for feedback after every call, making it easier for users to share their experience. In addition, users can view their rating history on an interactive map and run a coverage test to check signal strength in their area.
“The revamped TRAI MyCall app is expected to strengthen consumer participation feedback on telecom service quality by enabling subscribers to provide immediate and perceived feedback on their call experience. The feedback will assist Telecom Service Providers in identifying network deficiencies and taking corrective measures, enhanced customer satisfaction, and a better overall mobile communication experience,” Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman, TRAI, said in a statement.
“The initiative reinforces TRAI’s commitment to a consumer centric, transparent, and data-driven approach to improving the quality of telecom services. I encourage all mobile users to download the TRAI MyCall application and regularly share their feedback. Every feedback matters, and together we can build a better calling experience for every telecom consumer,” he added.
