Google has finally released its Gemini 4 Argon, the company’s latest frontier AI model. This new model competes with rivals like Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 and OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra across several areas, including coding, science, cybersecurity, law and others.
According to Google, Argon comes with strong reasoning capabilities and handles complex tasks in a better way now. This model is claimed to reduce repetitive responses, unnecessary qualifications and overused phrases that can affect AI-generated content. Notably, this launch comes after Google’s competition like OpenAI and Anthropic emerged stronger in the AI race as they continue to launch their latest AI models posing a challenge for the company.
How Google Uses Gemini 4 Argon Internally
Google notes that it uses the model internally for various tasks within its operations. These include identifying and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities, improving computing efficiency and troubleshooting technical problems. According to The Verge, the AI model could cut the computing power needed to run YouTube’s comments section by half.
Who Can Use Gemini 4 Argon And How Much IT Costs?
Google is offering the AI model to subscribers to its paid Gemini plans. The model is available to Pro and Ultra subscribers through the Gemini app and AI mode in Google Search. Currently, access is also being given to Ultra subscribers using Antigravity, the company’s platform for agent-based software development.
The company is introducing Argon at a lower price than competing frontier AI models. During the introductory period, the company is charging $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Google’s stated introductory rates are around one-fifth of the prices for OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic’s Fable 5 models.
Google plans to double Argon’s prices after the introductory period ends in late November. Even after the increase, the model is expected to remain cheaper than its leading competitors on a per-token basis.
