After Killing Dozens Of Websites, Google Finally Wakes Up, Begins Rolling Out…..

Google brought the latest AI Search and killed the traffic of a lot of publishers, and the tech giant has been doing it for a very long time now. However, just a say ago, Google has announced that it will let website publishers to choose whether their website appears in Google’s AI Overviews, AI Mode in Search, and Discovery. The new toggle will appear in the search console of websites. Furthermore, Google has also started releasing new insights for the website operators in the search console.
With the new tool in action, publishers will have the ability to stop the links and content from their website from appearing in AI-powered summaries integrated within Google’s Search interface. The company has also said that the publishers who opt out of these services will not receive traffic or impressions from the generative AI features. Furthermore, the tech giant also said that the opt out will not be used as a ranking signal outside of AI Overviews.

What Will be The Impact On Publishers?

What seems like a power is again something that will work against the publishers. Some of the websites that have started appearing in the AI Overviews will take a hit if they toggle it off. But, large publishers are going to opt out of the feature or at least use opt out to bargain with Google in order to come to a midway, with which Google gets business and publishers don’t go bankrupt.
Because, without strong and authoritative content, Google AI Overviews will be filled with junk. However, this will work against the small publishers as they have to lose potential citations, visibility, and brand exposure if they toggle the AI Overview participation off. It will be interesting to see which way this war between Google and publishers turns.
