Apple CEO Tim Cook has been in talks because everyone is thinking that the Apple CEO will step down sooner or later, along with announcing his successor who will lead Apple. Cook said to his employees that he is “obsessed” with thinking about who will lead Apple in the years to come.
Tim Cook said during an all-hands meeting on Thursday, as reported by Bloomberg, “I spend a lot of time thinking about who’s in the room five years from now, ten years from now. I am obsessed with this — who is in the room 5 years from now.”
These comments from Cook come at a time when Apple has witnessed a lot of departures in the senior management in the last few months. A majority of people from the leadership, including the chief operating officer, general counsel, and head of environmental affairs, are ready with their plans of leaving Apple.

What surprised the audience is that Cook clearly said that these moves are carefully orchestrated and not surprises.
However, Cook also said, “When people get to a certain age, some are going to retire. This is kind of a natural thing.” Furthermore, Bloomberg also suggested that Cook did not address the departure of AI chief John Giannandrea and design executive Alan Dye.
Tim Cook has been leading Apple since 2011 and played a major role in the development and growth of Apple at its core as a company. Under his tenure, Apple became a company with a $4 trillion market cap.
Coming to the candidacy part, it is being said that John Ternus is leading the race as the strongest candidate for the position of Apple CEO. As of now, he is at the same age at which Cook took the leadership and, if we go by the longevity point of view, Ternus fits the bill perfectly than anyone else at the company.
