Donald Trump, President of the United States, has said that artificial intelligence, or AI, should have a kill switch to keep a tab on the rapid advancements. He said that the companies should make sure that these advancements in AI don’t create a situation where humanity comes under existential threat. He further said that AI has the potential to enhance sectors like banking by making it heavily secure and efficient, but we cannot ignore the risks associated with it.
In the discussion with Fox Business Network, Trump was questioned about the possibility of AI affecting the banking system’s stability. To which he responded by saying, ‘Yeah, probably. But it could also be the kind of technology that allows greatness in the banking system, makes it better and safer and more secure.’
The US president also said that the government should have safeguards on AI technology, most probably a kill switch. These latest remarks by Trump came after warnings from cybersecurity experts against the latest AI model by Anthropic, Claude Mythos. Experts have suggested that Mythos could give pace to complex cyberattacks and create a considerable risk for the banking sector. As of now, Anthropic has declined to comment on these warnings and has said that Claue Mythos Preview will not be available for the masses.

And this is not it, as OpenAI has also joined the race with the debut of GPT 5.4 Cyber.
