Apple has opened the claims process for customers covered by a US class action lawsuit over delayed launch of its upgraded Siri. Eligible iPhone users in the United States can now get claims of $25 per (nearly Rs 2,395) device. Notably, the final amount for the claim may differ for customers depending on different factors and eventually go up to $95 (Rs 9,100) for eligible devices.
According to MacRumors, this window to get your claims will be opened from September 21 to December 21.
Why Was Apple Sued?
The case dates back to 2024 when Apple showcased new Siri features powered by Apple Intelligence. The tech giant prompted new features of Siri through its website, presentations, advertisements and a television commercial featuring actor Bella Ramsey. However, Apple delayed the launch of the personalised Siri features in March 2025. This delay was followed by a class action lawsuit accusing Apple of allegedly running false ads and now it has decided to pay the eligible customers for it.
Who is Eligible?
According to MacRumors, you must live in the US and should have purchased an eligible iPhone in the US only between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 to qualify to get the claim. Moreover, the purchase must have been for personal use and not for resale.
Notably, the eligible models include the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Eligible customers are expected to receive an email containing a claim ID and PIN. However, the settlement website also allows users to submit a claim without those details.
When Will Payments Arrive?
The publication added that claims can be submitted until December 21. A final approval hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2027, meaning payments are not expected to begin until sometime next year.
