Apple has taken the world by storm with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the most expensive iPhone Duo. Now, the latest reports suggest that Apple is reportedly developing two game controllers for the iPhone, with accessories expected to debut under the Beats branding.
The controllers have come into existence via software references that reveal some of their hardware features, consisting of controls, connectivity, and haptic systems. Furthermore, the two models appear distinct in terms of how they handle motion input and vibration feedback. Apple had not put a stamp on the launch of the controllers, due to which a lot related to them is still under wraps.
According to a report published by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, as shared in the latest Power On newsletter, Apple has been working on the controllers for more than a year and plans to target the iPhone.
He says the accessories will likely carry Beats branding, with Beats executives leading the development of the same. Apart from that, the two Apple hardware devices carry codenames T6502 and T1057, and they were also spotted on macOS 26.7 release candidate in the beginning of this month. The devices were believed to be game controllers with different haptic and motion hardware.
As per the leaks, both the controllers come with a D-pad, shoulder buttons, dual thumbsticks, analogue trigger, home, and menu buttons. T1057 was also said to have an accelerometer, gyroscope, while the T6502 missed out on motion sensors.
The code also included dedicated hardware plugins for both the devices, revealing that they could be actual products rather than placeholder references. Apple removed the references in the second macOS 26.7 release candidate. The Cupertino giant has mostly relied on third-party gamepads rather than making its own. Instead, Apple has always extended support for controllers from Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation.
