Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted online after Spain defeated Argentina in a tense final, applauding the world champions.
Tech Leaders Congratulate Spain
The Apple CEO shared a short but enthusiastic message on his X account. He wrote, “What a final! Congratulations Spain!”. Pichai also praised Spain’s performance, calling it an “absolutely incredible performance.” In his post, the Google CEO said Spain deserved to lift the trophy after showing outstanding teamwork throughout the tournament.
Pichai tweeted, “An absolutely incredible performance by Spain to take home the World Cup! 🇪🇸🏆 So well-deserved, just a beautiful display of teamwork all tournament. Congratulations to Argentina & Messi on a great run. And huge kudos to all of the teams and fans around the world for making this World Cup so memorable, already looking forward to 2030!”
The Google CEO acknowledged Argentina’s effort and praised captain Lionel Messi for leading his side to another World Cup final. He congratulated Argentina on its campaign and thanked all the teams and fans for making the 2026 World Cup memorable.
Musk also reacted to Spain’s victory by reposting Pichai’s message on his X account. While Musk did not add a separate comment, his repost indicated support for Spain’s World Cup victory, and echoed the congratulations shared by the Google chief.
Spain has defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, played in New Jersey on Sunday. The closely contested match remained without any goals through regular time before substitute Ferran Torres broke the deadlock in the 106th minute.
The goal proved to be the difference as Spain successfully held on to secure the World Cup title. The victory also brought an end to Argentina’s title defence under captain Lionel Messi, whose team had entered the final hoping to retain the trophy.
